The bugs are already starting to come out this spring. So how do you protect your loving pets from biting bugs? Little gnats, biting flies, mosquitos and ticks?
Thankfully we don’t have to deal with the ticks but the gnats and mosquitos are a huge problem where we live.
This is our beloved dog Belle. She passed away in the summer of 2021 and was loved so much. She loved going to the beach, the park and the lakes (where the mosquitos are at their worst).
She was my inspiration for this blog post years ago on how to protect your pets from biting bugs. I am now updating this post.
Although Belle is no longer with us, we still have our dog Zoey.
Zoey absolutely hates baths and sprays but we still do both to keep her coat shiny and smelling good.
Our family spends a lot of time outdoors. Fishing, hiking, biking, going to the lakes, rivers and to the park. Let’s not forget those outdoor BBQ’s.
Bug Guard is a must for our family; kids, grandkids and pets. Strong and dependable repellency against mosquitoes, deer ticks, gnats, no-seeums, sand flies and biting midges with up to 8 hours of protection.
Avon bug guard is an EPA registered insect repellent that has been around since 1999. It’s deet free and has a variety of formulas.
It has been proven to be as effective as S.C. Johnson’s OFF!! Which contains DEET and without the nasty smell.
Which Avon Bug Guard to use
If you will be outdoors during dusk or dawn and in areas where mosquitos and insects are most active SSS bug guard plus Picaridin would be the best choice.
Out and about during the day when sun protection and insect protection is both needed then one of the SSS Bug Guard plus IR3535 formulas would be best.
Either of these products come in an aerosol spray, pump spray or lotion.
