Winter Skin Hacks

winter skin hacks

Winter is here with it’s temps dropping to below zero, crisp wind, shoveling out the driveway, making sure the pipes don’t freeze and dry-itchy skin.  Probably should just stay indoors; right?

No!! Let’s not be so negative.  Lets focus on the joy of the season; building snowmen, ice-skating, snowshoeing, sledding, snowmachining and let’s not forget the holiday gift giving with parties to enjoy, lights, food and gatherings.

Cold weather can dry out your skin, but if you take care of it during the winter season you will be able to get out and enjoy winter while having great skin.

Here are a few winter skin hacks to have great skin during the this cold season

Drink plenty of water during the winter season.  Try some herbal teas.  Green tea, chamomile and dandelion teas are just a few that actually hydrate. Give Avon’s new Espira Hydration water a try.  Packed with electrolytes, minerals, vitamins and antioxidants.

Stay away from caffeine and alcohol.  This is a tough one for me (not the alcohol).  I LOVE my coffee so I drink it making sure to drink lots of water in between.  I especially love the Espira Hydration Berry.

Stay away from foods high in sugar and dairy.  These foods can cause acne flare-ups which can attribute to dry skin. Balance your diet with foods rich in fiber, like vegetables, fruits, and whole grains.

Be sure you are getting enough beauty sleep. Shut off the electronic devices at least 30 minutes before bedtime.  Try reading a book.  If you have a lot to do that will keep you up; keep a notepad by the side of your bed.  Write down what you need to do for the next day being sure to prioritize the three most important things to do first.  This will relieve stress and help you sleep.

No matter what time you hit the pillow, always wash your face first. Makeup can clog pores and prevent your skin from breathing.  If all else fails, keep cleansing wipes on hand.

Cleanse day and night.  In the evening I like using Avon’s Anew Clean Iluminating Rich Cleansing foam unless I am too tired then I use the cleansing wipes. In the a.m. I always use Anew Hydrafusion cleansing micellar water.

Moisturize day and night.  In the a.m. I really like to use Anew Hydra Fusion Replenishing serum under my day cream for extra moisture.  Even though it is winter you will still want to use a day cream that has spf.  I use the Anew line of day and night creams.

Exfoliate occasionally with a gentle exfoliant to draw out impurities and leave skin looking healthy and glowing.  This will help get rid of dead skin and help with hydration.

Try a moisturizing night mask with shea butter at least once or twice per week.

Be sure to moisturize and exfoliate your body too.  If you have extremely dry skin give Moisture Therapy a try.

There you have it!!  My Winter Skin Hacks. So, get out there and enjoy the winter season while having great, hydrated skin.
